WHCH Commitment to the Volunteer/Intern
We view our volunteers and interns as a valuable resource and are committed to providing support and recognition of their input. Volunteers/interns are supported through the provision of resources necessary to complete their duties; induction and appropriate training and a supervision commitment.
WHCH expects volunteers to behave in a manner which reflects positively on the organization and to promote the key organizational messages where possible.
Volunteers and interns are individuals or groups who offer their time, experience, knowledge and skills without financial gain beyond reimbursement of expenses; helping us to achieve our goals.
WHCH Volunteer/Intern Applications:
Due to the proximity of working with vulnerable populations such as children and individuals with intellectual disabilities the WHCH volunteer/intern application may include:
•DOB to confirm over minimum age requirement: (18 years old)•Personal information (contact information, driver’s license, any insurance, date of birth, social security number, etc.)
•Qualifications, if necessary (special educational requirements, skills, etc.)
•References
•Written permission from the volunteer/intern to conduct a background check and other screening processes•A personal interview may be required.
In addition to the application form, screenings of Volunteers/Interns are required. WHCH is cognizant of the privacy of volunteers/interns, to the extent possible. With written consent, screenings may be conducted periodically and can include:
•Criminal background checks
•Driving records if applicable
•Insurance confirmation
•Health screens (such as a T.B. test)
•Verification of any necessary credentialing
